Who are the EXTRA MILE HEROES we’re looking for?


They’re users and suppliers of industrial tools who go the EXTRA MILE. People whose jobs are physically demanding, day after day, and still find time to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way. Extra Mile Heroes have:

      • demonstrated the spirit of going above and beyond
      • performed an act that was of service to an individual or group other than himself or herself
      • exemplified quality and integrity among professional users and suppliers of industrial tools through their actions



How are EXTRA MILE HEROES nominated?


Extra Mile Heroes are nominated by their friends and coworkers, people like you, who enter nominations by clicking on the link below or at LENOX® distributor locations. We’ll ask you to provide contact information for yourself and your nominee—and to explain briefly why you’re nominating your Hero. Only one nomination per entrant is permitted, and all nominations must be received by November 30, 2008.

How are winners selected?


All eligible Extra Mile Hero nominee submissions will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges. They’ll select 10 finalists, who will be notified on or about January 7, 2009. Their names and stories will appear on this website, and you’ll have the opportunity to vote for the Grand Prize winner online. Voting begins on or about February 1, 2009 and ends on April 30, 2009.


What are the prizes?


Up to $1,000,000! Here’s how it works:

  • The top 10 Extra Mile Hero nominees will each receive $3,100, with an additional $3,100 donated to the charity of their choice.
  • All 10 finalists will be awarded a trip to the NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series LENOX® Industrial Tools 301 Race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in June, 2009.
  • The Grand Prize will be awarded at the race, with the winner receiving $31,000, and an additional $31,000 going to the charity of the winner’s choice.
  • If the Richard Childress Racing #31 Chevy driven by Jeff Burton wins the LENOX® Industrial Tools 301 Race, the Grand Prize winner will receive $500,000 instead of $31,000, with $500,000 going to the winner’s selected charity—$1,000,000 in all!
